While doing some hunting for parts I found this prebuilt system on New Egg. I know this group is mostly about DIY, but what are your thoughts on this system for $529.

I really just want to play diablo III, the occasional Steam game and WoW. I would also like something that is upgradable.

thanks!

This is not good. It has a 2-3 years old GPU. You can make a way better gaming pc with this budget.
And 400w PSU with 8320 ? This is disaster.

Look what you can take with the same money.

Prebuilt systems sometimes have proprietary motherboards. It's best to build a PC yourself with your choice of hardware. Use pcpartpicker.com as a good reference.

Well, I can't really build a system that's not 2-3 years old. I can't afford today's technology and to be honest, I'm pretty sure I don't need it.

I just want a system to play games a few hours a week. My HP from 2007 just died and I'm on a Dell Pentium M laptop running XP!

I've tried putting a system together and I keep going over budget about $200. Plus, I'm a little worried about building it myself b/c I'm afraid I'm going to miss something and it will take me weeks of tweaking to even get it running. I guess prebuilt is the pansy way out, but at least I'll have something to use.

Here's the most recent version of my DIY system that a few folks helped me with, comes in at $724.

CPU AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core $106.01
Motherboard MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ $59.98
Memory G.Skill Value 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $78.99
Storage Western Digital 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM $149.99
Video Card Sapphire Radeon R7 265 2GB $159.48
Case Silverstone PS08B (Black) MicroATX Mid Tower $34.99
Power Supply EVGA 500W ATX12V / EPS12V $29.99
Optical Drive Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer $14.99
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) $90.26
