If you downloaded pirated version, which everyone is doing these days, crack will be buggy. EA purposefully added many glitches throughout the game which can cause crashes, save game problem and even rendering issues, inorder to stop piracy.
Anyway, you can check the logs for actual reason for the crassing, error codes will be there. If the faulting module is the exe file itself, most probably, because of EA's bugs, or can be of virus infection (Sims exe might be infected). If the faulting module is your driver file, update ur driver.
