Hello, i have quite a unique question that i don't have an answer to.

I have an AT&T Mobile Hotspot device that I got before leaving the mainland to live in hawaii. The only problem is this place is a jungle! The internet we recieve from dish is ok for browsing the internet, but its ping is terrible for a person that plays League of Legends. i get around 800 ping on the dish network.

But on the otherhand, the mobile hotspot device picks up a solid 140-160 ping which is reasonable for what i want it for.

My problem now lies in the fact i have to put said hotspot on the other side of the house, but i need it connected to my computer which is roughly 100 feet away. The wifi doesnt come up too strong on it so i need to connect it with a cable. Unfortunatly it only has a USB cable to charge and hook it up.

This is the cord i have http://www.staples.com/Staples-6-USB-to-Micro-B-Cable/product_837384
It was given to me for charging or hooking it up. But what i need is to extend this cable, is there a way i can do this? I searched the internet but im guessing i would have to cut the piece i need and add on a longer usb cord to it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You are limited to about 15ft on usb. They make extenders that carry the signals over ethernet cable to say 150ft but they do not say what speed they can run at that distance. They likely work fine for keyboard/mouse application but if they would work for something like a wireless card is hard to say. The timing on a serial connection is much more sensitive that on a packet based connection.

You may be best off doing the reverse. You should be able to run a normal ethernet cable to the hotspot and then put a wireless bridge device on the end. You need what is called a client-bridge. Many repeaters can do this but most hotspots do not support WDS so some repeaters do not work. Although not designed for the purpose exactly the...

They do make these devices to hook to tv or games consoles that do not have wireless but have ethernet but at the moment I am having trouble finding a example. They are normally sold as media adapters or gaming adapters. The key to look for is the words clinet-bridge.

Its really too bad you can't get some form of dsl or anything else ATT is one of the most expensive broadband plans there is ...$15/gig and that is if they don't charge more for hawaii just because they can.
