Hi there,

I will be building a new gaming pc for a friend. He has next to no knowledge about computers so he asked me if i could build one for around 500 to 600$ (500 euro's). It's been a while for me since i bought a budget gaming pc, so i toyed around a little in the best pc hardware shop (in the Netherlands): Azerty. Now im wondering what you guys should pick? Or what would you do different?

This is my current list:
CPU: FX-6300
MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M LX3
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4 GB 1600Mhz
GPU: ASUS R9 270 DC2OC
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB .7200
PSU: Cooler Master B500
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000

For a total of: 491,18 Euro

That's pretty good. My main gripe is with the power supply. Try and get one from tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su...

Does he need an OS?

No he already has Windows 7, and he can buy a 8.1 upgrade for around 20 Euro's (since we both are students).

For the power supply i think a Seasonic M12 520 Watts would be ideal.

A GX550 is maybe a better option

The things I'd change in that build are the Motherboard and PSU. MB to Asus M5a97 LE R2.0 and for the PSU, Seasonic M12 520W is a good quality one as you stated above. If you don't want a modular PSU, you could go with the S12 one and save a few bucks.

The LE version has problems. You can get a Seasonic M12II 520 for $67 @ Newegg
