Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a Hero VII + i7 4790k and i'm a little indecisive relating what set of memories i should buy. My doubts are between Corsair and Gskill and i'm pointing at minimum 12gb.
Can you guys give me some advice on it?

PS: Also would like to know if my old cooler (Noctua NH-U9B SE2) will work efficiently with this set up.

If you're gaming, 8 (2x4) GB, if you're doing hard video editing or 3d rendering 16 (2x8) GB. G.skill and Corsair are both reputable brands, along with Mushkin (or something) and Kingston. My opinion would be, get the cheaper ones.

Usually I pick the cheapest RAM module available with the same specs from G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, Crucial and Mushkin.
All of those brands are good.

Yeah, forgot Crucial. The RipjawsX kits are my favourite though.

I bought the tridentX which was probably a mistake.
I had to remove one of the beautiful heat spreaders so It would clear my cooler.

Intel has good integrated ram controllers. The speed difference between slow and fast ram is minor for real apps or fps. Think 1-2%

Extra fast ram will come with higher latencies which somewhat negates the speed advantage.
Also, fast ram needs to be overclocked from the 1.5v norm to 1.65. That can impact how high you can oc your cpu.

My best advice is to buy low profile 1.5v 1866 ram with low cas numbers.
The brands mentioned above are all good and have lifetime warranties.
