Hi guys, first thread here and first AMD and Gigabyte build - it's a budget one for Uni!! :)

System Specs:
Processor - AMD A8 7600
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2 M-ATX Motherboard
Ram - Crucial BLS8G3D1609ES2LX0CEU 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Ram
PSU - Corsair Builder Series CXM 430W
GPU - Power Color 2GB Amd Radeon HD 7850
HDD - 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue

So I build it in the case and press start and I get a black screen
I take the components out one by one and put them into a working Intel i5 system. All the parts work (even the PSU, this system has a GeForce 660, more ram sticks and more hard drives)

I breadboard it out of the case and run just the PSU, Mobo and Cpu, no beeps for missing ram - I don't know if the mobo has no internal speaker
I add the Ram, and get no display still (or beeps)
I tried putting a speaker in the rear I/O but I sort of knew this wasn't going to beep for me

My question is should I be looking to send the Mobo and the CPU back?
Thanks for your time!!!!!! :)

Actually try this the same thing happened when building mine, before buying it see if you can get your hands on a 500w+ PSU and plug it in, I did this and everything worked perfectly. The no beep means it isn't even getting to POST so that means the mobo isn't getting enough power. Try it and let me know.

There will only be beeps if you are connected to a board speaker. It doesn't matter if you connect a regular speaker out at the front or the back.
Look at where your front IO connectors are. Is there something connected to the speaker part. It looks like a short cylinder hanging loose from the connectors.

If you don't have that, no amount of tweaking will get you any beeps.

Now to solve your display problem.

1) Are you sure your monitor works?
2) Are you sure you have power to the monitor?
3) If there is power to the monitor, does your monitor need additional prodding (something like a on botton).
4) Have you checked your display cable?
5) Does your HSF fan and case fan spin?
6) Does your HDD light light up and or flash after you push power button?

Someone may have disabled your iGPU in the bios so that when you breadboard it nothing display when you plugin the mobo display. Have you tried a different display card or different PSU (I know your 430 W isn't broken, but maybe it doesn't have the necessary startup voltage.)

Hi guys,

Dear ElliotCookie,

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. After checking, the GA-F2A88XM-DS2 (rev. 3.x) support AMD A8-7600 since BIOS version F7. We are not sure if you have update your BIOS to F7? If not, please note that the BIOS version which came with motherboard differ from time, it is difficult for us to know the BIOS version when you purchase the product.

If the current BIOS version doesn't supported the CPU, it could cause not boot or other unknown issue. Therefore, we suggest you install Haswell CPU which listed in support list and update BIOS version the latest version. If you don't have other CPUs, we suggest you contact your supplier (where you purchase the product) to help you flash BIOS.

Regards,
GIGABYTE

I just got this from Gigabyte - I don't know if that helps at all

I just tried to run the system with a working 530w Be Quiet PSU, and now the heatsink fan doesn't spin, but the PSU fan starts up, which is really scary as I don't know if the CPU is being powered so I pull the plug asap
http://i60.tinypic.com/a2t0p.jpg (I don't know if the link will work)

I am 100% sure the monitor works and the cable does etc (I know how painful this would all be if the monitor wasn't plugged in aha)
When I tried booting up the new system with an old SSD, there was a light on that, and I did hear my new HDD disc spin (back then the CPU fan and case fans would spin

This is what a motherboard speaker looks like.

and you have to plug it into the front panel connectors something like this go through your motherboard manual of the front panel connectors .

So do you think the motherboard or processor is shot and I can replace under warranty?

I am tempted to put them both back in their boxes and send them to Amazon as if I have never touched them and get an i3 Haswell

Okay so I ran the system with some corsair vengeance (which is compatible) and I still got the same blacks screen

Checked the AMD box and I have clearly ripped the label so there is no way to send that back, so I am stuck with the A8 7600

Okay, on emore thing you can try. Do you see a clear CMOS button on your Mobo? If not, is there a jumper that you can work with? If you cannot see either. Do you see a round metallic thing near your CPU socket and or GPU socket? Or anywhere on your mobo? Remove it. Wait 30 minutes. Put it back. We are trying to clear your CMOS.
