Having Problems with Monitor Display after installing RAM (DDR3)

I bought a stick of RAM today (Kingston 8GB PC3 - 12800 CL11 240 - Pin DIMM) and after installing the RAM, my computer started to emit some noises (I believe they are called Phoenix Beeps). After this, I decided that there was probably an issue with the memory that I installed, so I opened my computer case back up and removed the RAM, leaving my old RAM (Ramaxel 4GB). I plugged my power cord in, keyboard, monitor, and mouse. I turned on the machine and everything lit up including the keyboard (it is back lit) and machine lights, however the monitor (connected with VGA) did not turn on. I plugged in my laptop to the monitor just to make sure the monitor wasn't broken, and it wasn't. I read some other threads, and they suggested to make sure that I didn't unplug any cables in the process of installing the RAM. I checked all the cables, and everything seems fine. I'm not sure what is causing the problem or how to fix it. Any solutions?

I have a Lenovo Mahobay motherboard.

Update: I tried plugging my computer in with a HDMI cable and it worked! However I need it to work on VGA. Is there a problem with the port?
