2GB Dedicated Graphics but 0 MB Dedicated Video Memory.

Hi I have a HP Pavilion 15-p028tx Notebook PC Laptop. As far as I know it comes with a NVIDIA 2 GB Dedicated Graphic Card. But when I checked the Properties it says "Total Available Graphic Memory 1792 MB " but the "Dedicated Video Memory 0 MB." I am unable to play GTA 4 because of the same ,kindly let me know if i have to download any Driver or is there some other problem. I have the NVIDIA GeForce 830 M Driver installed. Do i need to make some changes in the settings....PLS LET ME KNOW ASAP. Ty in Advance.

ManavSaxena :

you have to install the drivers .. if you dont then then it will run indows generic drivers and you will be using shared memory which is actually your ram. install the graphics drivers and the dedicated video memory will become 2048mb..hope i helped you

Alright I'll install the Driver first and then get back to you. I hope it will solve the problem.

The 1792mb is the intel igpu as your laptop switches to save power. If it's not switching to the 830m, go to the nvidia control panel to makes sure gta4 is on the list.

I downloaded the driver from the HP Website and installed it but it is still showing the same thing. I checked my specifications on CanYouRunIt and it showed tht I have Dedicated NVIDIA 2GB Graphics but it said that the problem lies with the CPU , I have 4th Generation Core i3 with 4 GB RAM I think the Game should Run Fluently on my System but dont exactly know where the Problem lies.

I went to the Nvidia Control panel and set the 830 M as the default driver but still when I go to Screen Resolutions->Advanced Settings it shows the same thing and the Game does not works. I have also installed the NVIDIA Graphic Driver from HP website but it still doesnt work.

The cpu should not be the issue. The intel igpu is the main gpu and there is no way you can change that. It's just how switchable graphics works. Get msi afterburner and check your gpu usage. Then you can make sure which gpu it's using.
