Hello ^_^

So this is my first build, I used PC Part Picker (Reliable?). Build comes to about $719AU. I already have a tower, and a optical drive. Does this all seem all good? Is there anything better I can do?

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 ATX AM3+
Memory: Kingston Beast 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 – 1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5” 7200RPM HDD
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX

Also, I bought a PS4 I bought a few weeks ago for exclusives and my poorness at the time. Secondhand, currently having wi-fi and 'HDD checking' problems. Would I be better off returning it instead of having it replaced and sinking a little more money into this PC, and buying a PS4 later in the consoles lifespan when cheaper?

Thanks for any opinions. :)

The PSU is not enough for the GPU, get a 550W+ PSU from Antec/ XFX/ EVGA/ SeaSonic. S12II 620W is a perennial solid choice, as is XFX 650W.
I'd return the PS4 (provided it yields me some good $$$) and invest those into the build, probably a FX 8 with a better card and 990FX MoBo, and buy the console (if you can get over PC games!) later :)

i would recommend returning the ps4 and investing the money in a ssd to make the system even betteras it still outperforms the ps4.. and you can buy a ps4 later on as the price will surely go down as time progress.i would upgrade the psu if i were you even though its enough for the current rig, here is one that is cheap http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-bronze-power-supply/13...;jsessionid=C60C0D7CE4C962DA71D652BE1CC59BFE.bbolsp-app01-200?id=mp1309112975&skuId=1309112975&st=evga power supply&cp=1&lp=2#tab=buyingOptions

upgrading the psu can allow you to get newer power hungry hardware in the future without issues

SpongeBob agrees with Meteors, the PSU isn't enough.
XFX Core 550W is going to be enough,Seasonic S12II Bronze 620W or XFX Core 650W if you wanna have room for GPU upgrades.
The build seems good, besides the PSU. :)

Thanks! :D  I bought the PS4 in preparation for the bunch of Square Enix games being released on the consoles. XD

I'd always prefer get a single powerful machine for gaming, rather than 2 not-so-powerful ones. Not saying that PS4 is weak, can't dare!, but since you're having issues with it and can build a better PC (ultra gaming) by selling the PS4, I'd prefer to build the computer :)

Instead of the 760, I decided to go for the AMD R9 280x. Since they're about the same price here, and you get a little bit of a boost. :D  However the guy quoted me an A10 7700K APU over my original FX-6300. What are your opinions on each one? Is the difference marginal? Would I notice it in games?

The A10 is an APU,so a CPU with integrated graphics.
However,it is not a better choice over the FX-6300.And you can't upgrade to a stronger CPU in the future if you decide to get the A10.
So just stick with the FX-6300. :)

Thanks, why can't I upgrade in the future? Can't I just take out the A10? Is the difference noticeable?

I mean that you can't upgrade your CPU with the FM2 mobo, you will have to upgrade both if you want a stronger CPU.

A10 competes with fx 4 in terms of processing power, the increased price is because it contains integrated graphics, you don't need it as you're getting a dedicated gpu. So need to go with a quad core when you can get hexa core.
Moreover, the gpu you selected is great but will sadly be bottlenecked by the cpu, don't go with 280x, it won't be used to its potential atleast on fx 6.

Could you recommend a board? The one he quoted me for is a AMD A88X mATX... which I'm not too happy with as it doesn't leave any sort of room to change anything. And pretty sure it hasn't got enough PCi slots. Already paid for it though, but I did tell them I want to upgrade as minimalistic as possible in the future if I can pay a little more for a motherboard that I wont have to change next time I want to upgrade, then why not.

I asked them if it'd be bottlenecked and they said no, ive been reading around in case too and so far no mentions I can find of it being bottlenecked. I'm talking about on the fx series, my original choice, I don't really want the APU... I could just stick with my laptop if I did.

Just go with your original build with an XFX Core 550W/650W for your PSU. :)

Nahhh. Going to just get the mobo and APU changed. The AMD card is cheaper and does a little better, better than something more expensive that does a little worse. XD Thanks for your help guys. ^_^

Oop! I ended up cancelling my order from the other place. As another shop quoted me better, and with a CPU instead of an APU (which I was hesitant about)

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz 8-core - Little improvement over the 6300, but they have a special on which makes it cheaper than the 6300.
Motherboard: AsRock 970 Extreme3
HDD: Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm
Wireless Card: Asus Retail PCE-N15 Wireless Card
Optical Drive: LG DVD RW Sata
GPU: Gigabyte R9 280x OC 3GB
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB (4x2)
PSU: Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ Gold

The first build in store, cost about $1,000 at the first place I went to. This new build is only about $950, with some slight improvements. Would you suggest any changes? :)  My friend helped me with this one, especially in finding the cheaper store. :D

Not a good MoBo, EXTREME3 MoBos are not fit for 8 Core CPUs, you must get something better for a stable system. Everything else is fine.

Would the Asus M5A97 R2.0 be better then? Or what could you recommend?

Yes it's a lot better choice, better thermals, good for OCing and much more stable. I can just recommend the M5A99X EVO/ Pro but only if you want to use dual GPU support, A97 is more than fine for single GPU and FX 8 :)
