Hi there,

I recently built a budget (mid/low) gaming system which contains:
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 - Motherboard
2GB Radeon R7 260X X-Edition GDDR5 - Graphics Card
Integral 8GB DDR3 1600MHz - RAM
AMD FX8-8320 Black Edition Vishera 8 Core AM3+ 3.5GHz 16MB - PSU
WD 320GB 7200rpm HDD - Hard Drive
New Alpine 500W Quiet Silent Red Fan - PSU

Firstly it booted up and loaded great for a few days and even managed to play Elder Scrolls Online/Ultra PvE for a decent half of a day. Soon as I entered PvP the system went nope and rebooted saying ASUS anti-surge do dad protected the system form an unstable power supply.
Straight away we attempted to go back into PvP and same story cuts out. We noticed it happens when a power hungry fight is being rendered and not when you're just riding around the forest.

I disabled the Anti-Surge protection and it lasted a little longer but still just shut down without a message.
Assuming now it's the PSU I used my from my main rig which is an Alpine 500w Blue fan the same one I use in relatives systems although it is slightly more expensive.

Hoping this would work I didn't re-enable the anti-surge and was able to play Rome Total War 2 on highest graphic settings. I had a few large fights with plenty to render played for a good few hours until I got into another large fight then pop the PSU exploded(ish) and is now dead. Which is disappointing as this is the one from my main computer system so is there something wrong with this system I've built? Or have I just been unlucky and now need to buy 2 new better PSUs?

Thanks!
Luke

Solution
That Alpine unit is trash. Replace it ASAP. Your system is not killing PSUs. You are buying junk and it is failing because it is...junk.

Get an Antec, XFX, Seasonic unit.

These failing low quality PSUs ARE hurting and damaging your PC.
Cheap PSU's usually advertise Maximum power vs. the continuous power that quality PSU's advertise. I would bet that power supply could barely hold 350 watts under a continuous load. This would explain that your PSU's are failing while your gaming. Replace the unit with a good one. try to get 550 to 650 watt. A good PSU will last through multiple upgrades so it well worth the investment.

A lot of people saying alpine is a no go I must have gotten lucky as the one that blue up in the amd build I mentioned above worked for over a year in my intel/nvidia main build.

I will replace and stay away from alpine.
Would this one be better at all? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DZ6R9GE/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ref_=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1
It's EVGA I've used their nvidia cards for years no issues. I will look to getting a higher watt also.

Thanks for your answers.
