One on the second floor and one on the first.

I want to have a second router/modem upstairs because I'm tired of seeing a 50ft ethernet cable run down my staircase into the family room.

I already own two routers and two modems. The routers are the same model but the modems are different.

How can I set this up? Every time I plug in the router/modem upstairs and connect my pc via ethernet cable it says limited connection. This also seems to mess up the wireless network for all computers in the house.

Can anyone help?

It really depends what type of internet connection you have. You can not hook 2 modems to the same connection. It will completely break it if it is DSL and the cable company will not allow the second modem if it is cable.

Pretty much in either case you will need to pay the ISP for a second connection.

Damn, I hope that's not the case..Is there any way to work around it?

But what do you mean by 'if it is cable'?

If you mean what I think you mean, then let me say: I don't have cable. I only have a phone line and internet by comcast.
