Hi everyone,

posted something about it already but I wasn't very specific and nobody answered.

My SSD (firmware 541) worked well for about two months and then suddenly started to be much slower, I see it mostly in games like Ghost Recon online, loading times are about doubled, sometimes longer, and I get a strange lag, every one second the screen freezes for a very short time. That's very annoying!

same games run fine on my other drive, a HDD.

I'm pretty sure it is not performance related, I have an Asus ROG G75VW with a powerful build and latest drivers, and it never happened before I installed the SSD

what can I try to fix it ?

any help will grant you... well, my thanks!

Penhad

Check the S.M.A.R.T. values to see if there's something wrong.

Do you have TRIM enabled, defrag disabled, etc. so the SSD can live longer?

thanks for answering

TRIM's enabled, so is defrag but I'm running windows 8.1 and I've read that there's no need to disable defrag on win8, should I disable it anyway ? what about the etc, anything else I should check ?

I checked SMART values, got this from Kingston toolbox:

SMART READ DATA
Revision: 10
Attributes List
1: (SSD Raw Read Error Rate) Normalized Rate: 95 Sectors Read: 6203245 Read Errors: 0
5: (SSD Retired Block Count) Spare blocks remaining 97% Retired Block 0

12: (SSD Power Cycle Count) Power Cycle Life Remaining 100% Number of power cycles 390
171: (SSD Program Fail Count) Program Error Count 0
172: (SSD Erase Fail Count) Erase Error Count 0
174: (SSD Unexpected power loss count) Unexpected power loss Count 90
177: (Wear Range Delta) Wear Range Delta 0%
181: (Program Fail Count) Program Error Count 0
182: (Erase Fail Count) Erase Error Count 0
187: (SSD Reported Uncorrectable Errors) Normalized Value 100 lifetime URAISE Errors 0
189: (Unrecognized Attribute) Value: 34 Raw Data: 22 00 2c 00 14 00 00

196: (SSD Reallocation Event Count) Normalized Value 100 Reallocation Event Count 0
201: (SSD Uncorrectable Soft Read Error Rate)Normalized Value 120 Sectors Read 6203245 Uncorrectable Soft Error Count 0
204: (SSD Soft ECC Correction Rate (RAISE) Normalized Value 120 Sectors Read 6203245 Soft ECC Correction Count 0
230: (SSD Life Curve Status) Normalized Value 100
231: (SSD Life Left) Life Remaining 100%
233: (SSD Internal Reserved) 2001
234: (SSD Internal Reserved) 1105
241: (SSD Lifetime writes from host) lifetime writes 1105
242: (SSD Lifetime reads from host) lifetime reads 1717

I don't know how to read it though. the only issue I can find there is the 90 unexpected power loss count. am I missing something ?

Yes, you should disable defrag manually.

All SSDs loose some performance when they start to be filled. Even more if it's almost full. I don't know if that's the case here.

Ok, auto defrag is now disabled.

Does anything looks wrong on the S.M.A.R.T. ?

No, it look fine.

That Kingston tool also should told you if anything was wrong. If it didn't then the SSD is OK.

It may be something else, but i really can't say anything unless i see it.
