I was looking at the new Swiftech H220-X to only be disappointed that it is a 240mm. The case I am using is a Corsair 780t and the top or the case is capable of mounting a 280mm or 360mm radiator. So what would the best 280mm or 360mm liquid cooler be for $150 or less? Also if anyone knows if a 240mm rad will work in the 780t please let me know.

Thank you!

I'm glad you said that, I bought it yesterday before I checked back on here and was semi skeptical about it being a 240mm. It really did seem to be the best option though and the pump is capable of handling 2 rads and 3 blocks, pshhhh, much better than any other "closed loop" system that I found

The pump is based on the Laing DDC line of pumps (which are fantastic) and it uses an Apogee-based CPU block. You really can't go wrong with one of these considering the other options you were considering. Swiftech makes some really solid gear...their pumps and blocks are always within top consideration. Their radiators aren't always as highly ranked, but still good gear.

I read so many reviews on products and read so many different threads on questions that I have no answers to just to learn and over the years I have heard that Swiftech was a solid brand. I know regardless that the system will cool better than air, I am excited to see the overclock I can reach.

EK Predator is now out, I'd choose it also.

I'd likely never buy anything from Corsair or NZXT for my own builds.

I would have picked NZXT Kraken X61 - keeps my core temps low like a boss.

So, basically it looks like a Corsair H110i GT/GTX - which I am currently reviewing. You and I have different ideas about what watercooling 'like a boss' actually is. Loop deltas on these units is pretty poor - the only thing that they have going for them is that they often use pretty high-powered fans and larger radiator sizes (2x120mm or 2x140mm) to make up for this very low flow rate. For units that use a single 120mm or 140mm, an overclocked CPU easily overcomes the performance curve.

I guess for the price of H220-X in here i could get a full EKWB cooling system. So thats one of the reasons i would go for X61.
Im not an expert by any means, but for me its pretty silent compared to h110i GTX - maybe because of those slow loop deltas ? And thats what i was going for with my 4690k at safe 4.3ghz
But of course thats my personal opinion.

But knowing you actually review liquid coolers - obviously you know a lot more than i do.

So sorry for false information.

How does this compare to the cost of the Corsiar H110i?

When it comes to 'best' closed loop coolers, there really isn't one that I would recommend. The perception is that these coolers perform at a level of normal watercooling loops at a fraction of the cost, which is incorrect. Yes, they have 'liquid' and follow the same principles that watercooling does, but the performance relies on running the fans at maximum speed to make up for the poor flow rate and the aluminum radiators...and the fans are usually quite loud. I measured the H110i GTX at 60+ decibels on max speed. The H110i pump doesn't even move 1 liter of liquid per minute - most decent watercooling loops move 0.75 or 1.0 (or more) gallons per minute in a closed loop.

Swiftech H220-X and H240-X as well as the EK Predator series are the only units I would recommend.

The Thermaltake Ultimate 3.0 would be the best choice. It is a full 360mm and uses 3 120mm fans and is a closed loop system. I ham currently using it to to cool the AMD 8 Core CPU and is always remains cool even under extreme OC up to 5.0Mhz.
