I've been having some major problems with my Apple router and it's about near the end of its' useful shelf life. I have Time Warner Roadrunner cable service and my router that I'm currently using is an Apple Airport. Right now I have three desktops, an HTPC, and several laptops and tablets that connect to this network and I'm looking for a router that can handle all of them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Looking to spend somewhere in the $199 - $270 range. I would prefer one with easy setup. Here's a couple I am looking at:

- Netgear Nighthawk: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122617
- Asus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320208
- Netgear N900: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122591
- Linksys: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124531

I like the ASUS routers since N600 but I would not spend the money for AC unless I had a least a couple of AC capable adapters and then would limit the expense by only getting AC at a speed that is supported by an adapter.

The RT-AC87U looks cool and has great specs but IMO is a waste of money since there are no adapters even close to that speed and probably won't be for a long time (other than the option of using two -- one as the router and a second in media bridge mode where the full AC2400 bandwidth would be useful). And ASUS has already announced a newer AC3200 product link HERE so AC2400 will probably be a niche unit and have a very short support period with limited future adapters.

So I would probably go with a high...

So I would probably go with a high quality N600 like the RT-N56U or RT-N66U (N900) at a lower price point with the option of adding an AC unit at a later time as an AP when they get cheap and adapters become plentiful.

Good luck with the search.
