I would love to hear your thoughts about this computer build. It's mainly for gaming on high graphics, I play various games, no specific and also a lot of programming and high level math.

Is there any better components for less and or are there parts you recommend more than these?

Solution
If he is doing alot of programming and Mathematical computations, an i7 will stomp an i5 in some cases even 2:1 performance depending on the programs.

I agree, when gaming, there is little to no difference between an i5 and i7.

Still very little out of the i7s but with what you're spending on the build it might not be a bad investment. Though the old i7s last maybe 3 months longer as a great CPU vs the same series i5s... I suspect the current gen will act similarly

650w should be sufficient:

A 120gb ssd will fill up quickly. As it approaches full, it will slow down and wear out.
See if you can't budget enough for a Samsung evo 240gb ssd.

I see some 20% poor user reviews of some of the R9 290X cards. Check to see what your's looks like.
Compare that to GTX780 and GTX770 cards.
I might wait a week to see what the rumored GTX980 offers.
