Swapping out a HD 7850 for a R9 270

So, I've got this build I made on a budget a year and a half ago, so, I decided to get a newer GPU. From what I know, the R9 270 is roughly equivalent to the HD 7870 Ghz and when overclocked, can be better.

Since I was offered to swap them out by one of my family members since they are in a dire need of a new GPU, I was wondering if it's worth to get a R9 270 and give them the HD 7850 or just to save money and buy them something less expensive?

They occasionally game (Skyrim, Far Cry and the likes) on a 1680x1050 (He currently has a 6670 which is barely keeping up on such a screen.)

Also, the current build I have is an
i3-3220
8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 Mhz CL9
Asus P8B75-m LX Plus
600W LC Power

The 270 is literally a 7870, iirc, so that wouldn't be too much of an upgrade for you beyond the OC headroom improvements. If you're looking at spending some money to give the 7850 to your family, I'd suggest looking at the R9 280 (a 7970) or 285. Otherwise, I'd look at snagging a cheap 7850 or up for them.

Thanks for the responses! I did forget to mention that I'd get the card for quite a bit less than the original price tag. In Serbia, it'd normally be around 216$, but there is a deal where I can snatch if for around 175$. The first 280 that is available is 325$ and my budget for a card isn't that big unfortunately. Tho a 7850 can be found for roughly the same price as a R9 270 which, in my opinion, isn't quite worth it.

And used cards aren't exactly something I have good experience with. So I try not to count them in.
