I am trying to move files from a laptop that has begun crashing frequently. This external drive works great on that laptop. However, it will not load on the one I am using today (my travel laptop). Windows Vista continues to be unable to locate a driver.
So, I downloaded the software from:
http://m.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/goflex-soft...
I, then, used the "SeagateDashboard_1554_Better_Setup application. That seemed to load completely before showing a screen saying, "Please connect your device to continue" with a refresh button underneath. I plugged the drive in again, which turned on the light on the drive itself, and then I clicked on the refresh button. A small set of circling dots appeared for about a minute, but then stopped with no further action.
The drive still does not show on the computer's drive list, and I've tried the above steps repeatedly including having the Windows prompt search for a driver on its own.
