Hello,

A while ago I finished my first build. Everything went fine for a few hours and then after one restart, the screen went dark, but the pc was still running. I turned off the power for a few seconds and the pc just wouldn't start anymore, no response when I pressed the power button.

I brought the build into a shop and they confirmed that the motherboard was dead. So I had it replaced.

The replacement came in today and the exact same thing happened. Same conditions, same effects, everything.

Is the motherboard compatible with everything on the list below? (It should be, others are using this build with no issues)
Should I look for a different model?
Or am I just VERY unlucky and got two defective mobos in a row?

Here are the parts I'm using:

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ ATX Power Supply
A-Data Premier SP610 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

the parts look fine. the error you wrote about sounds like a bad cpu or power supply. (i would go with the supply first). as the shop replaced the mb there a warranty on the work they did. have them check with a volt meter the output of your power supply see if outputting to much voltage. if it not an over voltage issue is may a bad leg in the power supply where it can handle the load of the gpu at post. did anyone try a low end gpu and another test power supply to rule out bad power or a bad gpu??

I'll bring it back tomorrow to check the power supply.
Also, you think the gpu might be the issue?

They didn't replace the mobo themselves though, I RMA'd it myself through Newegg.
Even if the problem isn't the board, I'll still have to replace it again since it died. I don't think I'll go for the same one though. I'll just get a refund and get an ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 instead. It'll put my mind at ease.
