i need to connect 2 screens but i have one vga port on the back of my tower both monitors have dvi connectors on the back of them though but no dvi connector on the tower how can i make this work

the cheapest fix is to swap out if you can the older gpu with a newer gpu with two dvi ports. post up the spec of your pc if the power supply and mb is newish you could drop in a slightly newer 600 card for 40-60. that has two ports. if your mb is older type an only has pci slots there are older video card you can drop in and run one monitor from it.

i am trying to see if their is a way to connect the dvi from one monitor to the other and get them to register with each other of if it has to register at the tower. or maby use a spliter at the tower untill i get a upgraded gpu

they do make a vga to two dvi cables. the issue is both screens will show the same output.

so i wont be able to put open different windows in each screen they will both show the same immages?

Your only solution is to get a new video card with dual DVI or a DVI and Display Port or HDMI prt. To convert the VGA signal to DVI you will need an active converter that will cost about the same as a video card with worse results. Plus it will only work on one monitor.
