Hi everyone, don't know if this is the right forum channel to ask this question, but here I am.

Is it better to run cable wire or Ethernet wire and not weakening the signal of performance. I don't have cable out let in our living room, so I have to run the wire from bedroom to living room to hook up the tv. I have a video streaming devise that works on internet and hooks up to Ethernet wire, and cable wire.

So I was thinking to run the cable wire to the devise from bed room to living, OR run the Ethernet wire from bed room to devise/tv in living room. Which route should I take and not weakening the signal of internet and performance.

thanks for you time.

I think you may be a bit confused. If you have cable internet, then the signal coming in goes to your modem or modem/router. That device is registered with your ISP. The router then allows other devices to connect to the internet via the Ethernet cables and/or WiFi.

Your only option is to hook the device up to the Ethernet, unless you register your device with your ISP. There will be no significant signal degradation under 100 meters. Even then 100Mbps or 1000Mbps Ethernet is far faster then your internet service.
your better off splitting the cable wire. go into the basement and find the main splitter for the house. the installer should have used a muilt port splitter and there should be a few open ports. if not if you can get the cable to go from the new room into the basement then pay to have the cable guy to put a splitter in the basement for you.
