so i bought a combo on newegg, which had allot of the parts i was looking for anyway, and i wondered why it was so cheap (699 on sale, 799 originally) and it will be here in 2 days, and then after looking again i realized it doesn't come with a graphics card!!! So my question is what can i run, if anything, using the i7 4790k integrated graphics alone.

p.s, i plan on getting a dedicated graphics card later, but don't know when.

You can play CPU intensive games that do not require amazing graphics but if you try to play any kind of GPU intensive game you will call your computer a lot of hurtful names in many different languages :)

Also, flash games will probably run better on the integrated graphics vs. dedicated graphics.

It really depends on the game your playing and the resolution your playing at. Give me an example of the kind of game you plan to play.

For example, Minecraft is very CPU intensive and thus does not require a particularly powerful GPU as long as you have a powerful CPU.

I would look for a mid-to-high end card. Just be on the safe side instead of wasting money on a low end card and having to upgrade in a few months. What kind of budget are you on for a Gfx card? An R9 270x 2GB would be pretty decent.

I suggest you try out the integrated graphics and see how you do.
Then you can better assess what your discrete graphics upgrade needs are.

You can run strategy games or others without fast action reasonably well.
Shooters, probably not.
One thing to do is to allocate more than the minimum amount of system ram to be used by the integrated graphics. It makes a difference.

When you buy a discrete card, you will not use the integrated graphics at all, so you will want a sufficiently strong graphics card. In planning for a strong graphics card, I would look for a quality psu in the 600-650w range

The HD-4600 from intel is like a GPU for around 60$-70$ in perfomance.
I haved play league of legends in High Resolution with 40-60 fps with CPU only xD (I7-4770k)
But yeah if you take that CPU you need something more like GTX750ti and above.

This.

Personally I would get atleast a GTX 770 or R9 280x, but they aren't exactly budget-oriented :p

710 for a graphics card? I'd get a R9 290 (about 400) or if you want to max out your budget you can get a 780ti.

You should be fine with a GTX 770 or R9 280x though.

You can get my HD 7850 for way under that. PM me if you want details. You won't get ultra settings but it will probably be better than the integrated graphics.

For 700$ you can take something like this. You can play almost anything in ultra at 1080p right now.
