Hello! I'm new here. Long story short, I'm looking to upgrade my desktop in the future. It is a HP Pavilion P6-2429. I'm not really computer savvy, which is why I'm here now haha. I'm looking to upgrade my APU, maybe even change it to a processor/graphics card. I want your guys' help to upgrade it. I'm a gamer, I would like to upgrade it so I can run games well, such as Smite with a good FPS.

What would be the most bang for your buck upgrade I can get? Cheaper is hopefully better.

Would it be possible to upgrade just the APU and not the PSU/case?

Thanks in return.

Under $250 Option:

Under $200 Option:

The $250 option will definitely not leave you wanting more and will play most games on high or very high.
The cheaper option is at the low end of the mid-range and if you can, I would advise spending the extra $50-ish.

NOTE: I can not guarantee that the Gigabyte R9 270 ($200 option) will work with your motherboard, I do however know for a fact that the MSI R9...

You don't really need an upgraded processor for just gaming.
You should buy a graphics card and a psu to power it! Case upgrades aren't necessary.

(Background note: I actually did the SAME thing with my old HP computer a couple years ago. I have since then changed the case and motherboard and everything else, but it just started out as my HP with a new GPU and PSU.)

I see, that's great! Can you recommend cheap, yet good ones?

No problem! Do you have a particular budget in mind? $200 - $250 is a good budget for a mid range card and a PSU.

Actually, right now I prefer 100-200, but I'm thinking of saving for 200-250. Would you mind making two sets, one with 100-200 budget and 200-250 budget?
