However, it may be good if you could stretch ypur budget a bit to go with the xeon e3-1230v3 and the same mobo.

^^ I agree. you are putting yourself just short of a sizable price/performance budget. at $350 you put yourself at a i5-k and an baseline gaming mobo which is the ideal gaming setup.
