Hi there,

Just wondering if the NH-U14S would be an adequate cooler for the 5930k, I was originally considering the Corsair H110, but not sure about compatiblity with cases, or risk of leaks.

I'd also really appreciate if anyone can offer advice on good air flow cases. I'm not looking for fancy at all, but would like around 6 or more HDD and SSD support. I was looking at the Cooler Master HAF XM, the Silverstone Raven RV04, the Silverstone FT04B-W Fortress, and the Thermaltake Arc Revo Gene (though that one is a little short on HDD expandability). I like the metal HDD/SDD trays in the Fractal Design Arc XL and Arc Midi R2, but cooling doesn't seem to be the strengths of those cases, and I wonder if the solid metal trays might make the HDDs heat up too much. Any thoughts/recommendations on this?

Thanks so much for your time!
~Adam

Oh and the Noctua cooler will be fine. An H110 wont leak.

Are you planing on overclocking more than a medium amount?

I do have a suggestion. If you are going to fill up the HDD cages, consider a case with a side fan as air from the front will struggle to make it through. I would need a price point to pick from.

Thank you again for your help. I won't be overclocking more than 4.0 gHz, if that, as it seems power consumption goes through the roof past that. My primary use of the PC would be as a video editing and CGI modelling/rendering workstation.

In regards to your second suggestion, I think a case around $150 or less would be good. A bit more is okay if it's exceptional. The Cooler Master HAF X is $190 here in Canada, but seems a little narrow on SSD support, vs Coolermaster's newer models (like the HAF XM). That HAF X case has great GPU cooling; less good for cpu. I guess it's probably due to the side 200mm fan -- like you suggested.

I was looking at the Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 today... it's $150 locally at Memory Express. However, upon reading reviews on Newegg.ca, it seems like the fans don't have much longevity and CM doesn't stock them regularly. Someone even said other 3rd party 200 mm fans won't fit with that case; don't know if that's true or not.

I was thinking of the Corsair 500r http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Does it work for you HDD scenario?

Wow, thank you! That looks like a very good case. Only $140 here locally. Yes, looks good for HDD/SDD support. I'll do some reviewing on it too. Thanks very much! :)

Also consider this case. you will need to buy the side fan, but it is loaded with a bunch more fans and it will keep you HDD's cool. The side on this one has a dust filter unlike the 500r. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This would be my personal choice.

Thank you, Sir! I'll look into the NZXT Phantom. There seems to be a lot of "Phantoms," although the original came with 2 x 120mm fans on the side with an option for an additional 200mm fan on the side, a 120mm in the rear, and a 200mm in the top. The new Phantom 530 scraps the side and top fans, and adds a 200mm in front. Will need to check the reviews on these for sure.

Have a good evening.
