somthingwrong/missing in software

Hi all Just been given a pacardbell easynote with windows xp home with sp2 . i switched it on to find its been factory reset bk to 2005, first thing i tryed set up a wifi it finds my router and connects but wont validate .if i untick the IEE box it asks for my network key after iv enterd the key i then get a error report tellng me the key is incorect format .I then went down the cable route this seems to work fine no hassle getting online, but after i search for a web page it loads up the page with error in bottom left and then pings up an error report saying unable veiw web page operation aborted and goes to the internet page you would see if you you have no internet conection atall.
any help or advice i would appreciate greaty

set your date/time in the bios to the correct one and everything should work fine.

Many thanks but Ive already gone down the time and date route it was all set correct when i got it but all the software and norton were back to settings as if it was brand new in 2005 and it had no previous restore points from when i first switch the laptop on

well the only thing i can think of is it got restored to the "backup" of when it was first installed in the factory.
