I have a simple question.
On a desktop computer should the integrated/on board graphics (Intel HD 4000) be disabled if I am going to now be using a dedicated GPU?

Further to that… If I am going to re-format my PC and start fresh when my GPU arrives should I not even install the Intel HD 4000 drivers and just install GTX 660 drivers right away?

Specs are:
MOBO: GigaByte GA-Z77-DS3H
GPU: ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5
CPU: Intel i5-3570K

Thanks!

Solution
If you reformatting and reinstall windows and you certain you using a GPU, you don't need to install the Intel drivers. You don't need to disable it either. It should recognize automatically whether you using integrated or a dedicated gpu.
just install the gpu drivers.

you need to install the video card first before you install the driver =D

and about the disabling dont touch that. just dont

the bios will automatically detect that you are using a Video card (if installed) it will automatically use your video card

Format , install the motherboard drivers

dont let the graphics card or windows search for or install drivers till that is done
The onboard graphics are automatically disabled as soon as you install a graphics card

Then download the latest graphics driver from Nvidia directly

all done
