hi, my laptop comes on fine and when i get to my home screen my mouse cursor stops working and i cannot do anything, i have tried upgrading to win 8 from vista and i could use for a few days then it stopped again, how do i totally format my hdd from the start up screen ?

Solution
You can try attaching this HDD as a slave drive to another PC and low level format it.
Is your keyboard working? You could also try: Start button > Run > type in 'cmd', this will pull up a command prompt. Type in format/p c: and this will format your HDD. It is recommended that you have some sort of bootup disc so that after formatting you can reinstall a OS.

If the problem persists, I would advise you to run a testing software on the drive.

Hope this will help,
