Ethernet connected directly to modem, terrible speeds.

So, I get 50Mbps. Even on WiFi I get around 50. When I'm connected with an ethernet cable (I've tested 2 cables) directly to the modem, I get ~9.4Mbps. I don't have a dedicated network adapted, it's the one built in to my motherboard (Asus maximus hero VI). There was a small period of time where I actually did get 50Mbps through wired. I don't know what changed.

TL;DR: I'm connected to the modem through ethernet cable, and I get 1/5th of my speed. Please help!

Solution
I would try a different cable. I should conform to the CAT 5e or CAT 6 spec, and be as short as you have on hand to eliminate the variables. Make sure it is plugged all the way in until it clicks.
