hello, so im in the need of a long range router. I currently have a NetGear Router R4500 and an amped wireless repeater and 50% of the time the repeater/ router doesn't work past 30 feet and i was wondering if there was high end router that can give me good signal through out my home. The router would be in the front of the house and needs to reach 200 feet max of walls. If i can't find a router that can do that is there a better solution reach the far end of my house.

More about : long range router

I'd look at some business solutions. EnGenius have some pretty powerful routers, but it might be worth looking into powerline adaptors as well.

I don't think any router can work through 200ft of walls. You need stick to repeaters and access points. You should look into commercial solutions, such as those systems used in airports for example, that provide seamless transition of connection

Depending on the house construction, any of them, if placed properly.
Not in the basement
A central room in the house, but NOT in the kitchen

2000 sq ft house isn't that far from center to edge.

Ok 2000sqft is very reasonable. I have used the ASUS RT-N66U in a 3 storey home (~1500sqft). Router was placed on center floor. It worked very well.

Asus also has some really good new routers. http://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RTAC87U/
Thats rated for 5000sqft. It will easily cover your whole house and backyard.
