If I have a custom-built computer with Windows 8 installed, can I store the product key on the BIOS somehow?

As the title says. I built my own personal gaming rig, and I have Windows 8 installed. I will inevitably need to reformat my hard drive at some point in the future. I know that typical consumer electronics that come with Windows 8 now store the product key on the BIOS, so is there a way to do that on my desktop computer?

EDIT: Ah, I see. OK, thanks for the response, just wanted to know for sure.

Solution
That's done by OEMs using specialized tools from Microsoft to tie the OS to that individual motherboard, and even then you often have to manually re-enter the key during reinstall.

Just write the key down and keep it somewhere safe.
