Hello

This will be my first workstation build. I was wondering if someone could please recommended an appropriate wattage for this sort of build. I would really appreciate the input.

Case:
Corsair Obsidian Series 450D ATX Mid Tower Case w/ Window, Black

CPU:
Intel Core™ i7-4790 Processor, 3.60GHz w/ 8MB Cache

Motherboard:
Asus Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi AC) w/ DDR3 1600, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, SLI / 3-Way CrossFireX

Memory:
Kingston HyperX FURY Black 16GB DDR3-1600MHz CL10 Dual Channel Kit (2x 8GB)

HD 1:
Samsung 840 EVO Series Solid State Drive, 250GB

HD 2:
1TB Blue Desktop Hard Drive, SATA III w/ 64MB Cache

GPU:
Evga GeForce GTX 760 2GB PCI-E w/ ACX Cooler, Dual DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort

I was considering this PSU:
Corsiar Professional Series HX650 Modular Power Supply
or
Corsair Professional Series HX750 Modular Power Supply

- I'm trying to create a reliable build that I will be using only for digital art. If someone can please let me know if the PSU is correct for this build I would really appreciate it. THanks

The hx750 is overkill for this build, the 760's minimum wattage is 500 so 650w is more than enough, it would also allow for quite a bit of overclocking.

I come across a lot of similar builds with this sort or similar wattage. Does that mean that people often chose PSU's that have wattage higher then they'll use? Serious question. I'll go for the 650w if that's sufficient for my build.

I like to have extra myself or if I find a great deal on a higher wattage I buy it.

That's why posted the 750 EVGA above.
