Help removing a stripped screw from a GTX 670

I own a Zotac GTX 670 4GB that uses the reference GTX 680 PCB and cooler. I was attempting to remove the cooler to install a Kraken G10 soon. Problem is I stripped both a screw on the back PCB and a screw on the side of the cooler shroud. I attempted to use some screw extractor tools and it only seemed to make them worse. So now I am thinking of drilling them out but idk if their are any other options I have first. And if I have to drill them out then what size bit should I use?

Also keep in mind I want to keep everything from the stock cooler in tact and re usable since I might end up selling it for a 980 or 970 when they come out. And yes I have new screws to replace the stripped out ones. Zotac was nice enough to send me a few.

And about the whole re selling. I am waiting to see what the performance and price of a GTX 980 and 970 will be. Because I have 2 GTX 670s I was going to install the Kraken G10 and a Corsair H55 on both. so That would be around $100 each so $200 total. And I have been seeing cards like mine going for 200 to 300 on ebay used. so if I was to sell both for 200 then that would give me $600 to spend on 1 or 2 new cards. I am just looking for a bit more performance then what I have right now out of them. A few games I have drop frames down to 30 and 40s at time and the micro stutter gets old.

But back on Subject. Any tips or ideas on how to get these few screws out? and If i have to drill them what will be the best method and what size bit to use.

Can you send a picture.?

When you say stripped do you mean the head broke off?
If so and if any bit of the shaft is exposed you can either use needle nose pliers.

If you bean that the treading is stripped away then I would put a tinny flat head screw driver under the head of the screw to apply pressure and try to unscrew it like normal.

Heads are stripped. And they stripped before they ever began to turn.

Tried both, Allen did nothing. and flat head only made it worse. Zotac likes to put lock tight on their screws. =/

You have to get a flat head that is just a little bigger than the hole and wiggle it in with out braking the card. It has to fit exactly. You might have to sand the screw driver down to get it to fit.

By chance are you using a mechanical screw driver. If so never use those. They cause exactly this problem because you can't put even vertical pressure and torque that is enough to have pressure but not so much that it strips. A human hand is much better at this,

Well, bad news is. I was looking at the screws Zotac sent me. And they only sent me the ones that go on the side. =/ so even if I do get the stripped screw out, I wouldn't have one to put back in.

I'll give these a try. If worse comes the worse, I could just have my friend mail me back the GTX 580 I gave him (It died on him btw) and I'm pretty sure the screws in it are the same as the ones in my 670, I don't see why they wouldn't be since the cooler design is practically the same.

Oh wow! XD I completely looked over that post. I'm so sorry. But will one of those bits be small enough? If so then I will buy it right now lol.
