Right now I have this TV:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-39L1350U-39-1080p-120Hz-LED-3.3-ultra-slim-HDTV/24538863

Connected HDMI-HDMI to my R9 290

The TV can apparently do 120hz, and has a VGA port on it. (see pics in link)
If I was able to connect the TV by say VGA-DVI to my R9 290, would I be able to game at a full real 120hz refresh rate? or is this TV just 60hz digitally upscaled to 120hz output only?

Am i able to get to 120hz with this TV through the HDMI i'm using too?

Inputs shown in the TV's settings are:
Ant/Cable, Colorstream HD (???), HDMI 1, 2, and 3, and PC which i assume is VGA.

Is colorstream HD the digital 120hz or... can my VGA on the tv display this? I can't find any information relating to its 120hz capabilites in my TV's manual or website, and am not sure how to tell.
Help plz?

"Ant/Cable, Colorstream HD (???), HDMI 1, 2, and 3, and PC which i assume is VGA."

Is not VGA. VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. I would get a DVI to HDMI convertor and connect it to the DVI connector if your Graphics Card has one.

but HDMI--> DVI on TV's can't output more than 60hz... most converted cables/devices can't. Hence why I thought VGA might work, its a solid output. And yes, it seems the VGA is the TV's PC output .

How can I take advantage of this TV's 120hz? think its stuck in 60hz for could it be used in true 120hz?

Hmm... I thought so... I've had this TV in 60hz since Dec 2013 though. Just thought "hmm, maybe it could do this"...

Oh well, still get my use out of it as an overhead monitor. Great TV for $280.

Also found this in the TV's manual:
"For the 32/39/50L1350U and the 32/39/50L2300U models, the
ClearScan® 120Hz technology is always on"
Only works in Stnadard or movie mode, and it looks like it only kicks into effect when connected to DVD or Blu-Ray :/

Oh well

I dont think the 290 series has analog output via dvi anymore. Also, your Tv has lied to you. Its not true 120hz its just 60hz rendered twice. Its done through software and isnt real 120hz. Last thing, hdmi cant do 120hz officially.
