I have 2 lenovo y510p on windows 8.1. Been using it for a few months now but since yesterday only 1 of them have access to the internet. The laptop with issues shows wifi and says it has internet connection but I can't load any sites or programs that require internet. Considering the other 1 is perfectly fine with the wifi, may I know the issue with it?

Also tried connection to the default gateway on the laptop with issues but couldn't access it.

Right mouse on the icon for the network adapter on the taskbar / troubleshoot problems. What does that say?

moused over the wireless icon and it says Internet Access. Tried troubleshooting and although it acknowledges that it cannot access websites, it still couldn't detect any problems.

Check the adapters properties / under IPv4. Is it on auto? I would also check if there are any proxies in the browser/s settings. If there is (and you dont use them) untick the option

Yes the IPv4 is on auto, changing the DNS server to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 does not work too. Browsers, on IE and firefox does not have any proxies.

Since it's wireless disconnect it reconnect it again. What security are you using?? WPA2?

btw it's 8.8.4.4 not 8.8.8.4

oh haha, my mistake. Anyway 8.8.4.4 doesn't work either. Yes, im using WPA2. Disconnecting and reconnecting the wireless/router still remains the same.

mm have you tried turning the modem off for 1 min then turning it back on??

Try windowsupdate. See if that works. Sometimes even if you cant use a browser, windowsupdate will still work

Download this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-service... run it tick all. Copy and paste what comes up

We'll see if anything is missing

And a stupid question since its a laptop, is wireless turned on?

Haha, yes , wireless is turned on. What i heard from my brother is that it started right after a windows update yesterday. Even tethering using his mobiles data does not work. For some reason, the update cleared all the previous system restore points so there is no point before the update to restore back into.

Anyway, here is the result from the program.

hmm go to the network adapter in device manager for the one thats not working / driver tab. Click on roll back driver if it's not ghosted out.

Maybe windowsupdate installed a later driver, that doesnt work?
