This makes no sense - Windows 8.1 issues with drivers (probably)

I just don't know what's wrong and it's driving me insane. I'm really losing my mind over this. I hope someone will be able to help me.

I have a new computer, everything was tested so there are no compatibility issues... or at least, there shouldn't be. So, here's the thing: I have original windows 8.1 installation, everything works perfectly. Except, when I do some GPU stuff, like watching VLC or playing games.

EACH and EVERY TIME I open VLC, I get an error, however, I don't notice anything, since VLC player doesn't shut down or freezes or anything. It works just OK, but when I check event log, here's the thing:

Faulting application name: vlc.exe, version: 2.1.5.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

The exactly same thing happens when I try to play e.g. Max Payne 3. However, when I play MP3, the following happens:

-I can play Max Payne 3 for 10 minutes or up to 3 hours, when suddenly (and randomly) the image freezes
-The game itself DOESN'T freeze; I hear background noise and I can press escape and hear the sound etc., but the image is still, frozen
-I can actually quit the game (I click by memory) and it shuts down "gracefully".

Event log notes the following errors:

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Sometimes even...

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.
Here's what I've done:
-installed the latest drivers for GPU (still same errors)
-installed 1 year old drivers for GPU (still same errors)
-ran chkdsk with no errors
-stress-tested GPU, no errors
-reinstalled windows 8.1
-reinstalled the game and vlc
-checked gpu stats, no overheating, everything in normal range
- when I installed 32 bit VLC, it worked without any errors! Why is the 64 bit VLC causing these problems? I know it's not the VLC's fault, because I installed it on a different computer and it worked OK.
- Also, my motherboard graphic card is still active; it wasn't disabled when I added geforce 650 ti.

My computer config:

Thanks for your reply!
I actually did a test of rams via Windows 8.1 default software (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer) and it returned 0 problems. Is perhaps this type of testing not enough?

Also, would faulty rams always crash 64 bit VLC, and NOT 32 bit VLC?

I will check with memtest as well. However, as already stated, would that casue that vlc 64 bit always crashes and vlc 32 bit never? Is that ram related? seems a bit odd...
Also, I don't know if I've explained that enough: VLC 64 bit "crashes" on EXIT. Meaning, when I exit VLC, no error is given, it exists gracefully, but when I check logs, I get the error described above.

Thanks, I will look into it. However, the error "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." was also present when playing another game (COD: black ops 1), but the game recovered (it froze for 10, 15 seconds, then recovered). So I'm guessing the problem might be in my graphics card, rather than any particular software.

well, well, well, this is interesting:
I formatted computer, wasn't connected to the web, so no updates from the web could be made, booted to windows, resolution was very low, because I didn't have any drivers installed at all, and then I installed VLC 64 bit from USB.
When I closed the VLC 64 bit, THE SAME ERROR APPEARED.

Obviously, the error has nothing to do with drivers, at all.
Perhaps the Windows 8.1 installation version is corrupted??

Hi All
Just to let you know, I have got the exactly same error on W8 64 bit, Asus N750JV
Not sure, though suspect it is vlc or a latest MS update as the error is only happening lately.

Does this still happen when you use 32 bit VLC?

I have not uninstalled the 64 bit version to check it out. 99% of the time I use VLC for radio streaming.
Do you know if the 32 bit version gets the same error?
Possibly its happening since the last VLC update?
