Macbook Pro 17 inch mid 2010 change Hard Disk

I would like to change the harddisk of my Macbook Pro 17 inch mid 2010 from:

HITACHI TRAVELSTAR 5K500.B HTS545050B9SA02 500GB 5400RPM 8MB CACHE 9.5MM SATA 3Gb/s NOTEBOOK HARD DRIVE

into

Seagate Momentus Thin ST500LT012 500GB SATA/600 5400RPM 16MB 2.5" Hard Drive

Does anybody know if that's a wise decision?

Depends why you are changing it. Probably won't be faster but if you think your HDD is going to fail then yes.

Actually I can not find any website where I can compare these 2 disks. Besides that, I was wondering if I can use this new Seagate for my Mac.

Suggestions are welcome ;-)
