Serious Flickering Problem.

Recently I've had a problem with my monitor flickering black, I changed over the cable but that did nothing. So I switched over the monitor but that also did nothing, I have however noticed something changed. At first it seemed like it was working but then the problem came back, getting worse and more common each time.

With the previous monitor when the screen went black I had to turn it off and on again with the button on the side to get it to work, now the screen flickers more often and it fixes itself after a few seconds but now the screen also shifts left and right and sometimes it distorts slightly. I should note however the resolution of the previous monitor was 1920x1080 this one is 1440x900(it's also pretty old not sure how old but it's called the SyncMaster 940BW).

The last thing I've been able to try is the graphics card, the one I currently have is a AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series but I also have a built in one, the Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000. So I disabled the AMD graphics card through the Device Manager and it auto switched over to the in-built one which seemed to work for awhile just like switching the monitor, but alas the problem comes back.

Other things worth noting is that I've had problems updating the driver and I'm currently on Windows 8.1 Pro.

It's honestly like a nightmare that never ends, I don't have enough money to buy any new parts so I'm stuck with what I got at the moment and if this doesn't work I'm kinda screwed. Any help is appreciated.
