getting a new motherboard have 2 in mind

Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 7 LGA1150 ATX Motherboard

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 LGA1150 ATX Motherboard


Not sure wgich to choose out of these 2

I do not know where you get that MSI has poor QC. MSI products for the last few years have been top notch and I have been using them in place of Asus and Gigabyte. I have found that they tend to have less quirky issues with the BIOS and board features.

I would recommend the MSI Gaming 5 or the MSI Gaming 7. Great motherboard with plenty of features. I have used both in builds and they have not let me down and they have been rock solid reliable. I also find that MSI tends to be on par with Asus when it comes to supporting a stable OC. I have been a fan of their ClickBios for quite awhile too. Puts...

Msi board: 4x PCI-e 2.0 x1, 3x PCI-e 3.0 x16

Gigabyte: PCI, 3x PCI-e 2.0 x1, PCI-e 2.0 x16, 2x PCI-e 3.0 x16

MSI board has 1 more PCI 3.0 lane but lacks a PCI lane.

For the rest they r pretty much identical. (Altho I have better experience with Gigabyte after-sales)

The gigabyte z97x gaming 7 is one of the totally awesome z97 boards out there. Go for it.

Puts all of the information that you need right in front of your face instead of having to dig through menus upon menus.

Honestly though, they are all pretty decent boards and you also have to take into consideration which one you like the looks of better.
