My Windows/PC only reads half of my ram.

okay so i had 4gb of ram,and my pc at that time had not video card,so i went to bios and alocated 1gb to video,then i bought a video card and i had from the 4gb of ram (the windows reads 4gbs) only 2 usable..... then i tought ill just buy 4 more,i bought 4 more gbs of ram then i had 8gbs and the windows reads 8 but only 4Usable.... Help?

Go into your BIOS settings and load Optimized defaults and save.

What version of Windows are you running - 32 bit or 64 bit? If 32 bit, 4gb is the maximum you can access and you need to install the 64 bit version.

Won't work :C
and my windows is 64 bits.

are you sure you have 64bit ?
32-bit version is limited to just 4GB of RAM.
try to clear the cmos
go to msconfig.exe and go to boot,then advanced option and make sure maximum memory box is unchecked

check the documentation of the motherboard and check if you are putting them into the right slots, sometimes you have like a A1,B1,A2,B2 and they have to be corresponding to which ones you put them in
