Your HDD may have crashed.
Please wait one hour, and if the circle is still there, your HDD may have gone bad.
Since this is a laptop, short of changing the drive I don't see how you can confirm whether it is indeed the HDD or some other item.

@Darthutos- my C drive was 99% full, so I can relate to what you are saying.
I kept the laptop for three days...no progress.
How do u think I can repair without spending on a new HDD?

@michaelhall...tried the safe mode...it still just shows Acer symbol on starting and then windows tries to boot...says 'Please wait'...circles keeps on revolving , nothing happens.

@reedo- its an Acer V5 with win8, c drive 99% full.

What do you guys rhink

I think your HDD may be beyond help. Honestly If I were you I would be in data recovery mode than trying to keep the HDD.
What you can do is somehow get a linux CD. Boot from the Optical disk drive and click on try instead of install.
Once you can get into Linux desktop, put in a USB drive and start copying from your HDD. That is if Linux can even see it. If it cannot, then your data may be gone as well.
Good luck.

Another option is getting the trial version of Acronis True Image Rescue CD. You can try backing up the drive if it can read it. Most likely you will encounter something like sector cannot be read. Click on ignore for all. It may take a while, but you got to save whatever you can.

I"m not really worried about the movies and songs and other data on my HDD...what Im worreid about is the cost of fixing this issue.
Nonetheless, Ill try the michaelhull's advised solution..
will get back with results soon....if nothing else works- new HDD.

Also could you guys advice how to get a new windows...im not really keen on buying an orignal version and paying for it!

Recovering from the hard drive during startup

Turn on your computer, then press <Alt> + <F10> during startup to open Acer
eRecovery Management.
Click Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults.
Click Next. Your hard drive’s original, factory-loaded contents will be recovered. This process will take several minutes.
