Full screen games take long time to open.

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I am having kind of an issue with my games. When I start a game it goes into full screen but the computer screen goes black for a minute and then the game appears. If I minimize the game and open it again the same thing happens. This is a new problem in my computer it worked perfectly before I installed Metro Last Light Redux, but it does not just happen with that particular game it happens with all my full screen games. I reinstalled my Nvidia drivers, Directx 11, vcredist and others and still have the same issue. If anyone could help me I would be really thankful.

I had a similar problems with games running CryEngine 2, what ended up fixing it was switching from mechanical disc to SSD.

Might just double check that your hard drive isn't nearly at capacity. Or try defragmenting.

If you already have an SSD then disregard.

I do not think it is hardware related because I have 1.5 TB which 400Gb of them are free, I7 3930K overclocked, 2 Gtx 660 in Sli, asus saberthoot x79 motherboard. So it must be Some kind of software issue, by the way I have windows 8.1 and it automatically defragments the hard drives. I do not have an SSD. The games load pretty fast after the 1 minute delay of that black screen

If you never had this issue before with other fullscreen games, but started having them just after LL's installation, then it could indeed be a software issue as you say.
I assume LL has Physx support, yes? and that all (or most of) the games this happens with support Nvidia Physx. Try disabling them or lowering them to a minimum, and see if the game loads faster. If it does, you might want to download them from Nvidia's website and reinstall them. The game might have overwritten some libraries with betas/prototypes/faulty modules.

I re installed all the driver for the 10 time but the problem persists and in other games like far cry 3 I have a green screen flickering in the game not sure if it has to do with the other problem. but in Metro the screen does not flicker.

Just throwing ideas out at this point.

Have you been re-enabling SLI after each driver re-install? (One of my pet peeves is that it doesn't remember between updates)

Might also give it a try without SLI enabled.

Might look at Windows logs to see if there are a whole bunch or errors or warnings piling up when you run those programs that misbehave.

Tried it without sli bridge, without Sli enabled and the problem is still going I think I am Doomed. Whit CCleaner I clean the registry every now and then.

Then I guess the green team made something nice for once...last time I looked they were two different executables :p
Also, cleaning the registry with CCleaner usually works, but don't give it too much credit, as it won't make miracles and can actually make things worse, although that's very rare.

In any case, do give a look over the event viewer as Eximo suggested, you might find something useful. What's bothering me the most is that all of this started happening after you installed Metro Last Light, which, if it got installed by Steam, probably overwrote VC redists, Physx Drivers and DirectX libraries. Do keep in mind that "up to date" doesn't always mean "up to performance" in these cases (except DX); in case you don't find anything over the event viewer, rollbacking to older drivers isn't a bad thing to try.

Thanks Lads. I just checked logs and did not find anything usefull over there. In other words I like my games to be in a box not digital so I always grab one from the store directly, When I was installing metro an option appeared asking if I wanted to install vcredist, Directx and Nvidia Physx I said Yes. and then when I Tried to open the game an error showed 0XC00007b (if I remember correctly) then I reinstalled Vcredist and it opened the game but it takes a long time to appear (and the other games as well)

0xC00007B is usually thrown when there's something wrong with .NET Framework (either 3.5 or 4), VCRedist 2008/2010 or DirectX 10/11, at least from what I recall.

Try repairing/installing/reinstalling the two .NET Frameworks above and the two VCRedists (if you haven't already done so), with any released service pack for them as well (Windows update should detect them automatically and notify you of them, but it's best if you force them by downloading them all manually).
DX is slightly more complicate to overwrite, but it's hardly ever the issue, unless it's completely lacking libraries (which is not your case if the game can run, even if it takes a while to load)

Tommorrow I will take my computer downtown and ask for professional help in a frinds computer store. I might Even need to re install my windows 8.1 if I remember where is my disk. :) Thanks for all the help you gave me. and have a nice day. If you could find any other information I will Appreciate it. Thanks Again

You just updated the latest versions, which works for the DX web-installer (Dx10 and up, Dx9 and lower still require the 9c end-user package).
However, it won't work for VC redistributables or .NET, as they're all installed as different softwares; installing .NET 4.5.x doesn't mean you have everything up to that revision, you will STILL NEED to separately install 4.0.x, 3.5.x, 3.0.x, etc...
The same rule applies for VC, as installing 2013 won't install 2010, 2008 or any other older version.

You should try everything you can before spending money on "a professional". If yours are as the ones I know, even Yahoo Answers has a higher grade of expertise...

You are right sir. But I have already installed all the vcredist and net frameworks that i know about (including the 32bits versions) in the case of net framework when you install 4. 5. 2 it automatically the older versions. So I have 4.5.2, 3.5 and 1.1. If I recall correctly.
