I was looking into making a budget gaming build for my girlfriend and I just wanted to know if the Intel Pentium G3258 can be overclocked on the Gigabyte GA-B85M-D2V mother board. Here is the link to everything I have picked out the build if you are interested. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/72drpg Also I do know that there is only 4gb of ram in the build and that is because as of right now she only has an old VGA monitor and 4gb will be enough for that so whenever she decides to get a new monitor she will get the other stick of 4gb also. And also I am most likely going to get these parts around black friday/cyber monday to hopefully save a few bucks.

What has the monitor to do with 4 or 8 GB of RAM???

Until and unless Intel forces manufacturers to stop unlocking the Pentium* G3258 on non-Zxx boards, the F5 BIOS for that board should allow unlocking the multiplier.

*I read where that may be a possibility, but have nothing to back up the claim.

Research into whether the voltage is limited or not. I have seen some other gigabyte b85 and h81 boards that can overclock the Pentium, but the voltage is limited to 1.2.

Also since your going to overclock I would look at a better quality psu. Try this one
