I just recently bought a new laptop, hp pavillion with intel i3, 6gb ram and the startup from when it is fully turned off to on is about 2 minutes. My 4 year old laptop with celeron used to start up in at least 45 seconds. Im very unimpressed with a computer like this taking this long to startup. Whats the deal with it?

Solution
It likely has a ton of bloatware junk form the factory which add a BUNCH of prompts to the registry and all startup when you boot the computer. Uninstall all that junk.

After uninstalling all the Bloatware from my Girlfriend's modified Gateway Desktop, it booted way faster.

how do i know which of the things are bloatware?

Like something that came on the laptop that is something you will never use. Look in the task manager at running processes. An example would be something like HP Data Vault that came on my GF's computer. This is a program that runs by itself but she didn't use. It is basically like a cheesy program for securing data. We ditched it, along with many others.
