Hi There,

I have a bit of change laying around so I was thinking about getting a newer laptop, newer CPU generation etc. Except I don't know if the laptop I am looking to buy is actually better than the one I have, the one I have is pretty old but still runs good, except a few overheating issues.

My Current Laptop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en...

Laptop I'm Looking at: http://www.dabs.ie/products/asus-refurb-r513cl-sx005h-1...

Would really appreciate some second opinions on this!

Thank you! :)

looking at the two from a specification perspective, I'd think the amount of difference in performance isn't really enough to warrant the cost. the i3 is probably slightly faster, the old computers video subsystem is probably slightly better than the old one.

but if your old one is overheating, then it's probably worth getting one that isn't.

The laptop you're looking at really isn't a big upgrade.

Edit: you're not gonna find an i5 with a dedi GPU unless it's used. Save up and upgrade to an Asus a bit later

I would keep the current system as it is not worth the upgrade as you have a slightly better cpu and gpu. I would only get the newer one if you don't need much graphics power and want more battery life.
