I recently built a new computer because my old computer had an issue very similar to the problem listed here, where the computer would randomly turn off and then restart no matter what activity i was doing on the computer resulting to the computer cycling through this problem 8-10 times a day. The computer would even turn off and the boot screen and restart. this problem happend when updating my graphics card which caused many other issues so i thought enough was enough i will build a new one.

Now i have built my new pc using only five components from the old computer ( hard drive, Liquid cooling system, mouse, keyboard and headphones ) i have a similar problem, where the computer will switch off within the first 10 minutes of use and then reboot , without shutting off again for that whole day. However if i shut down the computer and start it up again the problem will recycle.

I have removed the old hard drive from the new computer and tested the pc however the same problem occured again. I have ran a memory test (mem test 86) where no errors were found.
I have scanned the computer for any viruses using norton 360 but nothing has come up.

i am paranoid it could be a virus that has spread from my old drive to the new drive after reading various forum threads on simmilar problems , but i am skeptical that this will not fix the problem i am having. There is one thing to point out, however this maybe completely irrelevant but when the computer shuts down and restarts the language of the keyboard changes from US to UK which i find a little strange.

here are my new computer specs:

Asus X99 deuluxe
Intel i7 5930k
corsair 16GB DDR4 ram (2800Mhz)
Gigabyte windforce graphics card O.C
Corsair axi1500w power supply

Here is my old computer specs

Asus P6t deluxe v2
intel i7 920
corsair 12Gb dominator ram (1600Mhz)
AMD 5970
thermaltake tough power 1450w power supply

Thank you for your help in advance.

I am having this same issue. Within the first 5-10 minutes after a normal startup, my PC will restart. After this restart it will run completely stable, even under very heavy loads. Temperatures seem normal.

Asus X99 deluxe
Intel i7 5820k
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 ram (2800 Mhz)
Gtx 460 gpu
Corsair HX850 PSU
Samsung 850 pro SSD

yeah that's exactly what i am getting as well , however when you load into the bios there is no random shutdown. all my temps are normal as well below 50 degrees Celsius excluding graphics card which is ranging around 60 degrees Celsius.

i think i found the solution , when booting up the pc the cpu temp is 47 degrees then 3 mins later the temperature suddenly becomes 23 degrees, in theory if i boot to windows without entering the bios then the temperature could easily reach 90+ , i think this is a sensor on software related issue as when i touch my water block there is heat what so ever.

Frisco let me know what your cpu temp is when you boot up.

I noticed that temperature issue once as well, although I was not able to replicate it today. My cpu temp in the BIOS read upper 40's, then almost instantly dropped down to the 20s after several minutes. I had attributed it to how my heatsink was seated, but perhaps it is an issue on the sensor? I wonder if it is worth contacting Asus on this matter.

It might be worth contacting Asus , but today i booted straight to the OS and loaded up AI suite and i saw the temp drop from 45 to 23 , minutes later computer switched off again, really running out ideas now.

Have you tried flashing the BIOS with version 0801 (from their website) or updating the chipset drivers? I am going to give those a shot, but I typically try to avoid doing motherboard updates unless I know it is going to be fixing my issue. The last thing I want is to introduce more problems.

No i have not updated the bios or chipset yet , although i did message Asus , and should get a reply by Tuesday latest. Let me know if your issue goes away after updating.

After flash updating the BIOS version and installing the new chipset drivers, I have not experienced the restart issue (2 startups since). It might be too early to say that it is fixed for sure, but it is certainly looking may have been.

Ok that's cool , i will wait for Asus's reply and then flash bios and install new chipset drivers. Let me know if you are stable after a week or so.

I've had this issue too with the X99 Deluxe and 5930K. Temps are fine, but I'd like to know if that BIOS update works out!

I got a quick reply from Asus , this is what they said.

"Concerning your message about the X99-DELUXE motherboard, i would strongly advise updating the BIOS to the latest revision as per the description the latest one actually fixes the temperature monitoring.

Regarding the restarts it could be because of multiple components,as PSU or CPU and actually motherboard.

But if the BIOS update does not fix the restart issue, i would advise contacting the retailer for warranty purposes or at least a diagnosis from them. "

I have updated the bios and the chipset drivers to the latest version , and i have not had a shut down yet ( 1st attempt) i will post a further update after a couple of days regarding whether the problem has been permanently fixed.
