Recently I got my laptop (y410p) back from Lenovo after several repairs. At some point this involved a restoration back to the factory image, after which I then re-did the updates/upgrade from the original 8.0 image the computer came with to 8.1 through the store. In the past this produced no issues. However, this time Windows Update is having issues with installing a particularly large update (it looks like one of those cumulative service pack-type of updates). The name of the update is KB2919355 (about 750 MB in size). All other updates but this one loaded just fine. I have tried the various windows and DISM tools but it doesnt seem to be able to fix anything. The DISM restore health command, according to the log file, showed 220 "CSI Manifest Corruption", if that means anything. I could attach/send the file if someone showed me how.

Mostly I am curious how to fix this issue, or if it's just a case of windows misbehaving and telling me something wrong

There was a big service pack-like update to 8.1 released in April, usually around 800 MB in size. However, when you do the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 through the store the most recent updated version of 8.1 is automatically grabbed from the upgrade server. If you recently performed this upgrade this April update pack should have been included already.

The features in the April update include:

ability to pin Start Screen Apps to Desktop taskbar (Store is pre-pinned)
new shut down and search options on start screen
close and minimize buttons added to Start Screen apps when mouse moves toward top of screen
boot to desktop set as default (as opposed to booting to start screen)
etc

If these features are working I'm not sure what an 750...

If these features are working I'm not sure what an 750 MB update is about. It may be one of those phantom software issues. As to further troubleshooting steps have you cleared the update cache? Tried a system restore?

It was a while back, with a lot of changes and other stuff that happened, so I'd probably have to dig more than I want to to find a restore point. I believe that I cleared the cache at one point and it didnt do much. The odd part is, I think that was the update where part of what it did was change around the Start Menu (as in put in the alphabet categories and put the user pic and shutdown buttons on the top right, or something like that, maybe im confusing it with another cumulative update)? If that was the case, then I would go with phantom software issue, as I already have an update like that applied. At the moment everything is working right, so I might wait a bit and see if it magically resolves on its own soon
