My CPU is too hot

Hi,

What's inside my PC (Built in 2012):

Motherboard: ASUS P8-Z77-V Deluxe
CPU: Intel 3770k 3.50GHz (Stock Cooler and HyperThreading is off)
GPU: ASUS GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II OC
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
Storage: 1x120GB Corsair SSD Force Series 3 + 1x240GB Corsair SSD Force Series 3
PSU: 1000w HX Corsair Silver Certified
Case: CM Storm Trooper. 2 fans at the front, one at the top and one at the back.

Problem:
I talked to my boss at work about computers and such, and we began talking about temperatures and CPU's. I told him that my CPU runs at 52-57 degrees celcius when idle on desktop and well above 62 degrees celcius when playing a game. It shocked him and told me that I should see to it and do something about it. He said that the temperature of an CPU when idle should be about 30-45 degrees, and just above 45 but never higher than 60 when playing a game.

So my question is, is there something I can do, besides buying another cooler? I mean, you should be able to run a computer like this with a stock cooler.

Yes, a stock cooler will handle it and it is handling it - but not very well, which is the nature of a stock cooler. Nothing will kill a processor faster than heat so it is worthwhile to run an upgraded cooler to extend the longevity of the machine. I don't overclock but I've found than running a good cooler will extend the life of the machine and I refresh the thermal compound between the cooler and the CPU every couple of years. It never hurts to pull it apart, clean everything really well, and go back with new thermal compound.

It sounds like you have enough fans but just to check, pull the side panel off and see if it runs cooler. If it does you're not getting enough air through the case. Of course, part of this will also depend on the ambient temperature so consider that as well.

I dont have any thermal compound at the moment, so taking off the cooler and putting it back on is not an option right now. I've thought about adding another 770, and then buying the Corsair H60 for my CPU. Then my friend will overclock my CPU to about 4.0GHz, or just below. Do you think thats a good idea? I will try to run the computer without the side panel off, just to check if it helps.

Yea, turning around those clips, but wouldnt I need to apply a thin layer of thermal paste, after I've taken it off? I dont have any thermal compound right now, so thats why I havent tried that yet, since Im scared that the CPU will be damaged.

EDIT: Wait, I think I totally misunderstood you. You're saying that I should take off the black part (the fan), and then use a small vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust?

Yes rather not remove it until you have paste

How did you know that? xD My graphics card is at 32 degrees when idle and is at 60-65 when playing. But Im open to pull of the side of the computer, JUST to check ;)

I've just googled it, and no one really have removed the fan only, but some suggested that I should use an airduster, instead of an vacuum cleaner.
