I was wondering if it was possible to set-up a wireless WiFi bridge connection without them directly pointing at each other. I want to connect my friend's WiFi to mine using 2 antennas that have a max of 8 miles. We live only 2 miles away, however, there are houses and trees in the way. So i was thinking, why can't i point my antenna into the mid-point between both our houses, but above the rest of the obstacles, and he can point his antenna above the obstacles and then we could connect where our connections cross each other. So we would be pointing the signals into the sky (within range of each other) and have them connect. Would this work?

Solution
Sounds like point to point. That should be a direct line of site. The signal will shoot into space, not bend around the trees to your friends home.

Best wait for the lower frequency routers to come out and see what they can offer.
