Should I be worried?

So i just brought my PC to the pc shop that fixed my laptop and did work for my friend. Also my friends dad has known the owners wife for 30 years. Pretty much I handed him a list of my PC build before ordering any parts to make sure they would work. They include a asus maximus hero vii mobo, gtx 780 6gb sc, 32gb corsair vengeance pro 2400mhz ram, 4790k cpu, h105 cooler (or the supplied h100 cooler), a nzxt phantom 410 gaming case and three hard drives and a asus dis drive. The guy told me that the parts would be ok, then today asked me if all the parts were compatable and if IMFAO if the gpu would work with the mobo. Basically I'm sure everything will work but I want to know your opinion. Also he is charging me around 600 bucks for 4 hours worth of work and in my laptop I used to have 2 HHD. One with 500gb the other with 750gb. After the hard drive failure all I got back was one hard drive from seagate that only had 500gb on it and was charged 105 for it. Is this guy soound like trouble or do you guys think everything willl work out for me?

If your dad and friend says its fine, im pretty sure he's fine. The only thing I am worried about is the $600 service fee, which is a lot in my opinion. Somebody else may comment on how much they paid for a similar service and would give better advice, since I would build my own instead of paying for it. BTW do you know what PSU your using?

Hmm ok, $600 is really steep. Even at $100 an hour(ridiculous) that is still 6 hours of work which is more than an experienced system needs to put a PC together.

That PSU is overkill for your system unless you plan on tri-sli(which you can't do(well) on a Z97 motherboard)

I dont really have any other options in my area. also he has a warrenty that comes with it. if the psu frys my parts im going to be pissed off and complain to the BBB and talk with my layer who used to be a judge for the twon I live in. That is if he tells me the parts wont work and charges me those hours.

If the psu he says to buy frys the whole computer because it provided to much power to the computer then yes I will have his fat ass on a silver platter one way or another. Either way his business will be ruined if he doesnt make good on that. Id personally see to that.

Its not possible to supply too much power, he just sold you the most expensive PSU on the market is all.

Also, that wont hold up anywhere, he is not responsible for that, most companies state EXPLICITLY they dont cover this. Corsair however will replace any component damaged by their products.

Idk the guy said he stands by his work and that anything happens because of a part he installs and the like that he would take care of it. However if I get a virus from anything thats not covered.

I just want this to get done right and its stressing me out. Spent too much money for things not to go smoothly now.....Need a strress ball does anyone have one?

If you wanted it dont right, the best way is to do it yourself.
You are paying $150/H for 4 hours, on a job that in reality costs $50-$80/H for 1-2H.
I digress. I wouldnt worry other than the cost, you dont have any obligation to accept the system if its not working correctly.

Yeah but could he basically just take all the parts if i dont pay, regardless of if the parts dont work together or if its not working?

It sounds from your post that he is a family friend.
I would ask your family about it. Do they approve of his outrageous service fee? Is the guy in financial trouble so that your family is such a friend to him that it is a subtle way of giving him some money to help him meet his end?
As others have said, the components should be fine. You can put them on to PC Partpicker and if there is any problems the website will remind you.

If you have already bought the parts and gave it to him, it's all a moot point.

Now can you ask the parts back? How good a family friend is he? Will he be offended? Only you can tell.

At this point I dont care anymore. Around 600 is what we agreed to. As long as it works I could care less, I just want this computer done. Only thing he mentioned is that he would put beta drivers onto it?

The beta drivers better be for the GPU.
Otherwise it doesn't make sense.
Will a beta driver hurt your GPU? Probably not. but in all likelihood it won't help either.

As long as he says there is warranty, then you have nothing to worry about. Get it in writing though.

I would recommend not to use him in any future build.

Edit: Also check to see if he actually put everything you ordered into your build. You invested too much to be scammed.

Next build I will be doing myself. A cheap 400 buck build to learn how to do everything myself for the future. Also can you even use beta drivers for anything else. Like the cpu or motherboard?
