Hi, I was thinking of building a gaming pc but i have no expeirience and was wondering about the best builds for $400. Any tips would be apreciated and if i could get the same thing locally from like a micro center or a best buy(13,no credit card but maybe could give my parents the cash) it would be appreciated.

Solution
If the OP does not need an operating system and is willing to purchase a used graphics card, I'd go with the following:

Unfortunately for $400 it is difficult to build a gaming system, however this is the best I can build in your budget whilst also providing an Operating System (OS). I have included Windows 8.1.

If you don't need the operating system, please let me know and I will remove it and include additional components; such as a graphics card. The system above is ideal for you, as it can be upgraded in the future. It will support Celeron, Pentium, i3, i5, i7 and Xeon 4th generation processors. The motherboard also has 4 RAM slots, so you can always slot in more RAM whenever you save up more funds.

The above build is ideal to get you started, but to turn it into a gaming system you will need to save up more funds, then in this order: add a GPU, add another 4GB RAM module to total 8GB, then upgrade CPU. You will NOT need to upgrade the PSU, since I have also selected one which is capable of handling any upgrades you through at it.

As mentioned already, I have also included a genuine license copy of Windows 8.1 and a solid motherboard.

All the best. :)

Two things, number one would windows 7 be a cheaper then windows 8 since rather use that anyways. Secondly all i really need to run is battlefield 4, skyrim and league of legends at a decent speed. thanks for all he help tus far and i was wondering if buying a xbox 1 would be a better alternative?
